Out-Patients
Paediatrics
Order: 

The RN in the Paediatric Emergency Department may initiate the following assessments and treatments;

If patient is equal to or less than 6 weeks of age

  • Administration of acetaminophen
  • Notify MD that patient is febrile have MD see patient  and obtain orders for:

            Catheter for urinalysis and  culture

            Draw blood: Complete Blood Count, lytes, urea, Creatinine, Glucose, Blood Culture

            Obtain intravenous (IV) access

 

If patient is greater than 6 weeks of age and less than 3 months of age

  • Administration of acetaminophen
